scold an old man, talk to him as you talk to your
father.....and talk to an old woman as you talk
to your mother " - holy apostle Paul wrote
these words in the epistle to Timotheus (5,1-2)
These words that were said long time ago, in mythological
time, acttually their echo even nowadays represents
basic principle for those people who are conscientious,
who take care of old and helpless people or those
people who have professional obligation. The former
properly
understand morals, tradition, love, religion and
ethics. We must pay attention to them.

The
old people they take care of are lucky,
because they offer them help and they do
that for love. The later are real philanthropists,
people who generalize their attention and
care, helping those
poor, helpless, abandoned, unprotected old
people. Their job is is unselfish, it is
generous aid, and their persistence can
serve as an example. We must show respect
to them.

Nowadays, in modern societies, persons who decided
to devote themselves and their attention to old
people are organized through various forms: homes,
centres, shelters and other social institutions.

is one of these institutions in Vojvodina
- institution for public welfare - Gerontological
center Novi Bečej, founded in 1948, by the
name of Uboški ho-
me.

At the beginning, this
centre sheltered only fifteen old, unprotected
persons.
Today, about hundred employees take care of over
three hundred and fifty persons.
