Cultural development is very significant
at the beginning of XIX century. In 1838
in Becej was opened the first reading room
- casino.
About three decades later, in 1860, it was
founded professional traveling theatre of
Jovan Kneževic. Joca Savic (1847 - 1915
) an actor, a director, a pedagogue, very
respectable person all over the world, was
born in Novi Becej.
One of the most famous
composers Josif Marinkovic
( 1851 - 1931 ) was also born in Novi Becej.
Since 1993 music festivity "Horizon
on the Tisa- days of Josif Marinkovic"
has been holding in honour of this great
composer.
The flower of the river
Tisa , watery insect , is one of the
biggest natural rarity and it can still
be found in the mud of the riverbed, in
the vicinity of Novi Becej, although it
is becoming deserted.

nonadapted rooms are some of problems that must
